Blue & Egg Paper Doll Fun!

This past Saturday I visited Barnes & Noble in Woodmere, Ohio for storytime and some paper doll fun.  I had such a great time reading aloud to the kids and watching them color and cut out Blue & Egg.  They did such a great job!  Check out some of the photos below:

Thank you to everyone at the Barnes & Noble event!  Blue, Egg, and I had lots of fun!

  1. I just had to come over and say how blown away I am by your lovely book. I recently picked it up from the "New Releases" section of our public library because I was immediately taken in by the cover. I write mini-reviews of picture books that my kids and I enjoy on my own blog, and I put it aside to feature this week, though I hadn't yet read it with my 4 and 6 year old children. I read it myself tonight and I've fallen in love with Blue! I am so excited to share this book with my kids tomorrow, and in the fall, I know your darling book will find a home in my preschool classroom, too! Thanks so much!

  5. Good idea...Portland is such a amazing place for people in the arts. Artistic people 20's-40's from all over the country are moving to Portland! They love the out doors and it is bringing so much cool aritistic energy! Check out Oregon Art Beat. They have archieve of shows and it is so cool to see artists interviews.

If you can go to Cannon Beach and the Ecola part while there. It is a 1 plus drive but so so worth it! Also Mount hood is cool!

My husband..www.johndoan.com is doing lots here too and was on Oregon Art beat.

Yes I plan to come and see you. Maybe dinner after or before in Mississippi area or the cool Alberta st. area. in the NE section of town...it is a arty area..Also it is nice in the Pearl distric where Powells is.
    See you then.

  7. Hi again, Lindsay! Here's the link to my "Friday's Five" feature when I included your delightful book-- http://www.morninglightmama.com/2012/07/fridays-five.html

My kids adore it, as well. My four (and a half, as he insists we all say) year old son says, "I loved when he thought it was an egg, but it was really a snowball!" and my six year old daughter says, "I really liked when he thought it bloomed into a flower, but really he was making a new friend."

I watched as the realization hit my daughter's face when we read and she almost couldn't contain her excitement, but she managed to just whisper it in my ear-- "Oh, I get it! It's a snowball!" so as not to reveal the twist before her little brother got it on his own. :)

Thank you again for such a lovely story. I look forward to using it in my preschool classroom this fall, and I know I'll be watching your site for upcoming releases.
    All the best to you!
